As a lifelong resident of eastern Iowa, I’m excited to continue serving Iowans at Arenson Law Group, PC. I’m a third generation Hawkeye and earned my undergraduate degree in Political Science at the University of Iowa, then went on to earn my J.D. at the University of Iowa College of Law.
During my first legal internship with a legal aid organization, I developed my interest for family law. After that, I carefully chose law school coursework and internships that would prepare me for a career as a family law attorney. My work with Arenson Law Group, PC has further reinforced that family law is my true passion.
I embrace direct client contact that comes from working in the family law sector. I find it incredibly rewarding to be afforded the opportunity to develop deep-rooted trusting relationships with my clients, especially during some of the most difficult and life changing periods of their lives. My practice is client-centered and my clients’ desires are paramount. It’s important to me that my clients feel confident and comfortable expressing their case goals so we can collaborate to develop a legal strategy that works in their individual situation. My clients’ viewpoints are important and I appreciate when they introduce a new and different perspective. I think of my clients as being in the driver’s seat, while I provide the roadmap for their journey.
I also realize that my clients often come to me during some of the most stressful periods of their lives. I practice compassionate, client driven, and trauma-informed lawyering and recognize that court proceedings are often unfamiliar and uncomfortable. I try to anticipate my clients’ questions and needs ahead of time and do what I can to keep my clients informed and comfortable while I’m working on their legal matter.
When I’m not working, I love traveling to see friends and family, cheering on the Hawkeyes, and exploring the Cedar Rapids area with my rescue dog, Maxine. Staying involved in my community is important to me. I enjoy volunteering with Last Hope Animal Rescue and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
